d'oh!

No doubt Pete's brother, Doug Fraser Jr., the Federal elevator agent in Elrose, Saskatchewan, clipped this story and sent it on to Pilot Mound. It was then picked up by the local paper, the Pilot Mound Sentinel.

Pete's reaction is unknown.

For better or worse, the Frasers never packed up the truck and moved to Beverley. 

Mention of this news was again made in the Sentinel's "Down Memory Lane," column on January 31, 2012: "Oil was discovered at Elrose, 90 miles south of Saskatoon. It was a major natural gas find on land that once belonged to Pete Fraser of Pilot Mound."

I suppose we can take some small consolation in the fact that Pete (1876-1955) was still being mentioned in his town's newspaper 57 years after his death.
